How I would book an MJF title reign.

Tony Khan is currently sitting on a goldmine, and that goldmine's name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, also commonly called MJF. Since first signing with AEW when it kickstarted, MJF has been one of their top prospects and was considered a pillar of AEW once MJF turned his back on Cody Rhodes and became a heel. That's when MJF was able to show off his personality, and the loud mouth, cocky and disrespectful rich boy quickly became one of the biggest heels in professional wrestling! MJF is an excellent heel because he believes everything he says. He thinks he is the best wrestler alive and won't hesitate to tell you why he's better than you. After a very public dispute with owner Tony Khan everyone's favorite bad guy, MJF was squashed by Wardlow and taken off Tv for a while. MJF would shockingly return to AEW, winning the poker chip in a ladder match and guaranteeing himself a title match whenever he wants. With his contract ending on January 1st, 2024, the question now is what AEW will do with MJF now that he is back and what MJF will do when his contract ends. Tony Khan can't control what MJF will do when his contract runs out, but he can control what he can book while MJF is still under contract. Nobody knows what MJF will do in 2024. Will he sign with AEW again or go to the WWE? MJF has made it clear that he will sign with the company that offers him the most money, which automatically puts WWE as the front-runner due to the fact they are head and shoulders above AEW in terms of finances, but that doesn't mean AEW can't push MJF to the moon while they still have him. Currently, MJF is the most over wrestler in AEW and arguably the most over in ALL OF WRESTLING; each time he walks out, the entire arena leaps out of their chairs. Fans crave and demand to hear from him weekly; no matter what he does, the fans cheer him. ("Over" is a wrestling term meaning popular to those of you new to wrestling lingo) So now that Tony Khan has caught lightning in a bottle, what should he do next? The answer is easy GIVE HIM THE WORLD TITLE AND LET HIM RUN WITH IT!!!! I'm going to put my booker hat on and tell all of you how I would book this title win for him and his run as champion.

On AEW Dynamite, MJF decided to announce he was cashing in his poker chip on World Champ Jon Moxley and was doing it at Full Gear; he said he wanted to beat Jon clean in the ring and not use any shortcuts because MJF was ready to show the world why he is the best. So the main event of Full Gear will be Jon Moxley Vs. MJF for the AEW World Championship in a fair matchup, no cheating, no underhanded tactics, no bribing officials, just two men going to war for the most prestigious title in AEW. That concept excites me because both men are excellent wrestlers and can put on a fantastic match, BUT fair isn't the way MJF does things. He's a bad guy by nature, a nasty unlikeable asshole who will do ANYTHING to get ahead, so suddenly deciding to fight fair seems way out of character for MJF. My idea is pretty simple when MJF comes out for his match; he enters as usual and waits for Moxley, and then the speakers blast out, "WILD THING! YOU MAKE MY HEART SING!!!" and instead of a regular Moxley walk out. We don't see anything, no Moxley, just an awkward emptiness in the arena as fans wonder where he is. Finally, MJF's faction, "The Firm," walks out carrying a bloody and battered Jon Moxley. The camera cut to the entire Blackpool combat club, bloody and battered, lying unconscious on the ground. The camera cuts to MJF standing in the ring with a mic and have him brag about how he tricked the world, fooling Moxley and the BCC into thinking he wanted a fair match so they would lower their guards. The Firm rolls Moxley and the bell ring. As the match starts, MJF goes for the pin, but Moxley kicks out!! No matter what MJF does, he just can't put Moxley down for good. Then have a miracle happen. Have Jon Moxley start fighting back! The beloved face of AEW starts gaining momentum, and suddenly, MJF is in trouble! The bloody hero fights with every ounce in his body, wanting to protect AEW from the evil of MJF, and BAM, Mox hits a Paradigm shift!! The fans leap to their feet, thinking it's over and their hero Jon Moxley has overcome the odds to retain his belt. Still, no MJF kicks out, sucking all their air out of the arena leaving fans, commentators, and Jon Moxley sitting in disbelief that Moxley's best weapon couldn't keep MJF down. Moxley tries to maintain momentum in his corner, but The Firm gets involved and distracts the ref. Then it all falls apart for Jon Moxley as MJF takes control with a low blow and nails him with a barrage of his finishers, culminating with MJF cheating and wearing his diamond ring, and hitting a KO punch to Moxley. FINALLY, the ref counts three, and MJF is crowned the new champion. Fans will be on the edge of their seat because of the near falls. The arena will lose their minds resulting in a reaction that will stand the test of time. I'm not done yet. Now that MJF is the champ, it doesn't end yet; my idea is to have MJF keep that world title around his waist until the end of his contract; with each passing month, have MJF brag about leaving with the title and defending it in WWE, make him promise he's leaving AEW, and the fans WILL turn on him. On the final pay-per-view, BEFORE his contract ends, you have someone take the title off him. I have two options in mind for this, and you can't go wrong with a few names but these two stand out the most.

1) Wardlow- The current TNT champion is beloved by the fans and considered a future top star of AEW, so right off the bat. This would be their chance to make him the top guy. These two men have a long history together, and mixed in their rivalry is a very disappointing match under their belts. This match can be the makeup for that embarrassment and end the feud properly. Wardlow saving AEW and defeating MJF will cement himself as the newest main event player, and they'll have created a new pillar of AEW to replace MJF.

2) Jungle Boy- We all love Jungle Boy; he's a young man with a lot of heart, a fun move set, and a special connection with the fans. Fans have been begging for Jungle Boy to be a main event player and win a Championship, and thus far, we got a very fun tag title reign, but Jungle Boy is on his own. Once his feud with Christian Cage and Luchasaurus is over, Jungle Boy will look like a real singles star. Give him a few more months after that, and he will be more than ready to pursue the AEW championship. MJF and Jungle Boy both have a long history together and have been bitter rivals for years; both men are considered pillars of AEW and are homegrown talents, so anytime these two lock up, it is VERY personal. Having Jungle Boy take the title off MJF would be the pin to keep Jungle Boy as a top star and would give him momentum that he will ride for years to come.

Once MJF's year-long title reign ends, so will his contract, bringing the biggest bidding war of 2024. I can't guess what MJF will do, but I can take a stab in the dark; my prediction is he signs with WWE for two reasons 1) his best friend Cody Rhodes is there, and he wants to be with Cody, and 2) WWE will pay anything to sign MJF so in this case that is a massive advantage for WWE. Until 2024 sit back and watch as MJF takeover AEW and becomes the company's focal point.
